The Director of BIP SXM, Mrs. Vincentia Rosen-Sandiford, was delighted to attend the '2024 International Law Enforcement Intellectual Property Crime Conference' in Curaçao from September 23rd to 25th, 2024, following an invitation from the Director of the Bureau for Intellectual Property Curaçao, Ms. Gedeona Maduro.
This 17th annual event was co-hosted by INTERPOL and the Government of Curaçao, bringing together IP experts, policymakers and law enforcement agencies from around the world. This years theme 'Reducing the Harm,' focused on how to strengthen global and regional efforts in combating IP crime. The conference also provided a platform for all the stakeholders present to exchange ideas, share best practices and forge potential new partnerships.
While attending the conference, Mrs. Rosen-Sandiford had the pleasure of meeting with the Director of BIP Curaçao, Ms. Gedeona Maduro and her team of experts, and the Trademark Manager of BIP Aruba, Ms. Geosaine Laclé. This meeting provided an opportunity for the three Intellectual Property Offices of the Dutch Caribbean to discuss important matters and explore avenues for collaboration on IP challenges and opportunities within the region. Their discussions also focused on 'Patent Law and the high school Patent Competition' held in August on Curaçao, as well as information about the BIP portal of Curaçao, which offers an e-trademark filling solution for both trademark representatives and holders.
Mrs. Rosen-Sandiford valued the insights gained from the conference and looks forward to participate in future events that bring together regional and international stakeholders in strengthening the fight against IP crime.
